Engagement is so tough sometimes, it can feel like a full time job if you let it. The thing that has helped me most is to figure out what kinds of content a specific audience find valuable and then making sure I give them more of that, not only that of course, but more. What is the purpose/focus of your group?

The group I am hoping will be a place for all genres to come together but I am a poet so I do not know a ton of what a novel writer needs. As of now I am pretty much the only that post with the occasional like.

Got ya, first, what do you post? I wonder if you’re adding calls to action on them? Giving them something to do like asking them to post their favorite writing advice for example. Encouraging them to use the space to ask questions or find writing accountability partners. Second, I love that you want it to be a multi-genre space. If you want to include other types of writers but don’t know what they need, you can ask them, make a post asking them what they would like to see. Check out other groups or do an online search to get a feel for what questions and problems they are facing and then answer them in your group. Third, see who the occasional likes are coming from and connect with them. Ask them what they resonate with about the post or just ask how they are doing. Show interest in the ones who are there and active and hopefully they will come out of their shells and be more active. Lastly, just know that building an engaged community takes time, so you’ll get there just keep being consistent 💜
